Applying two efficient hybrid heuristics for hub location problem with fully interconnected backbone and access networks

چکیده
This paper considers the design of two-layered networks with fully interconnected backbone and access networks. The problem, a specific application of hub location to network design, is known as fully interconnected network design problem (FINDP). A novel mathematical programming formulation advantageous over an earlier formulation is presented to model the problem. Two hybrid heuristics are proposed to solve the problem, namely SAVNS and TSVNS which incorporate a variable neighborhood search (VNS) algorithm into the framework of simulated annealing (SA) and tabu search (TS). The proposed algorithms are able to easily obtain the optimal solutions for 24 small instances existing in the literature in addition to efficiently solve new generated medium and large instances. Results indicate that the proposed algorithms generate high quality solutions in a quite short CPU time. & 2013 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

A hub location problem with fully interconnected backbone and access networks
This paper considers the design of two-layered fully interconnected networks. A two-layered network consists of clusters of nodes, each defining an access network and a backbone network. We consider the integrated problem of determining the access networks and the backbone network simultaneously. A mathematical formulation is presented, but as the linear Corresponding author
متن کاملCapacitated Single Allocation P-Hub Covering Problem in Multi-modal Network Using Tabu Search
The goals of hub location problems are finding the location of hub facilities and determining the allocation of non-hub nodes to these located hubs. In this work, we discuss the multi-modal single allocation capacitated p-hub covering problem over fully interconnected hub networks. Therefore, we provide a formulation to this end. The purpose of our model is to find the location of hubs and the ...
متن کاملHub Covering Location Problem Considering Queuing and Capacity Constraints
In this paper, a hub covering location problem is considered. Hubs, which are the most congested part of a network, are modeled as M/M/C queuing system and located in placeswhere the entrance flows are more than a predetermined value.A fuzzy constraint is considered in order to limit the transportation time between all origin-destination pairs in the network. On modeling, a nonlinear mathematica...
متن کاملDesigning Incomplete Hub Location-routing Network in Urban Transportation Problem
In this paper, a comprehensive model for hub location-routing problem is proposed which no network structure other than connectivity is imposed on backbone (i.e. network between hub nodes) and tributary networks (i.e. networks which connect non-hub nodes to hub nodes). This model is applied in public transportation, telecommunication and banking networks. In this model locating and routing is c...
متن کاملLogical selection of potential hub nodes in location of strategic facilities by a hybrid methodology of Data Envelopment Analysis and Analytic Hierarchical Process: Iran Aviation case study
Hub facility location problem looks to find the most appropriate location for deploying such facilities. An important factor in such a problem is the pool of potential locations from which the optimal locations must be selected. The present research was performed to address two key objectives: identifying the factors contributing to the selection locations for hub establishment, and presenting ...
